Reaper Miniatures Ghost Painted

I painted up this Ghost by Reaper miniatures to use in the Iron Kingdoms RPG. I managed to finish it in a single painting session which is quite rare for me!
I painted it while GMing the IKRPG for my party during a particularly role play heavy session. (I think it might have even been a session without any combat at all!)

I like the way that the ghost is travelling through the grave stone

Here is the scale shot with Professor Pendrake. Its a pretty good size for a ghost, shade or wraith so I expect I will use it as needed to fit the situation.

The reaper minis code number and name are: 77007 Ghost
If you want one for yourself you can pick one up here (This is Mighty Lancer Games the best stockist of Reaper minis in the UK) if you live overseas you might find other web stores or Reaper's own site easier to shop from though.

King Vinter Raelthorne IV Painted

So I've finally finished painting Vinter! I've owned him for years but never got round to finishing him.
What got me to push through and get him done was taking part in Rikers Irons Alternative history caster competition. This is the second year he's run this competition, last year I entered Menite Vald.

Here he is next to Pendrake (as per tradition).

One of the things which put me off painting him for so long was that originally I had planned to paint the metal trim on his armour gold. Changing this to P3 Orgoth Bronze (My new favourite paint) really helped me progress in painting him.

I'm looking forward to using him in an Oblivion campaign using his alt history rules (with some community mods as his PP rules are a bit trash...)

Model Review: Flugwug the Filcher & Treasure Chest Expansion

So today we are taking a look at the Treasure chest expansion with Flugwug the Filcher!

I have a soft spot for croaks and was really excited to get my hands on Flugwug!

This set contains Flugwug with his stat card and a riot gear card, 6 treasure chests and a new treasure deck!

Flugwug is a Rogue class hero in Riot Quest. In Warmachine and Hordes he is a Mercenary/Minion Solo who will work for Cryx, Circle, Legion, Skorne and Trollbloods.

The Treasure chest are made of resin and come on these sprues, I recommend clipping them off slightly away from the chest itself just to be safe then remove the excess afterwards.

Flugwug comes in two metal parts, the main body and his left hand. There is also an optional coin purse.

Flugwugs long tongue is flicking up to clean its own eye!Crazy details like this really give this mini great character.

He is carrying a large sack of treasure, which has been patched multiple times, I think it will be neat to paint the different cloth in a variety of colours or shades.

He is also carrying around a treasure chest!

His left hand and the coin purse. I really like that he has the exact same wrist strap details as other croak models. It really ties him in with them nicely.

The treasure chests are nicely detailed. The one of the left the detail is super crisp even deep into the recesses showing the clockwork details.

The chains on the left hand one are nicely sculpted and look similar to the chest Flugwug is carrying.

I really like how different they all look. I think I will base mine onto 30mm round bases and paint the rim of the base to correspond to the colour of the class of hero who can open them for free.

And here Flugwug is assembled!

And here is the scale shot with Professor Pendrake, Flugwug has a stoop/crouch so isn't as tall as other croaks in the setting

The quality of the sculpts here was great, very minor mould lines if any at all.

I can understand players of just Warmachine and hordes having "sticker shock" at the idea of "having to pay that much for one small base mini" but you get much more than that (as long as you play Riot Quest I guess...). I feel the modelled treasure chests add a great visual element to the game and since using them I find myself playing more towards trying to loot them in the game too.

The new treasure deck which also comes in this set is a great change of pace and has a larger effect on the game than I initially expected! Some even damage your enemies!

Overall I think this is an excellent addition to the game and well worth at least one player in each group getting (until the rest get envious that they never get to play Flugwug and end up picking it up as well...)

Renedra Mixed Tents Product Review

Lets have a look at some terrain scenic items!

I plan to use them for terrain for my Warmachine and Hordes home table, likely as a concealment terrain type but I'm thinking of adding some extra rules for fun casual play.

They are made of hard plastic which has been coloured light brown

Pendrake for scale, the small tents will be Gobber or Troll Pyg sized

They clipped off the sprue easily and had minimal mold lines, mainly the cross supports for the camp beds needed some clean up. Which was very nice to not have to spend a lot of time getting them ready to paint.

The only assembly needed are the camp beds which come in three parts and glued together very easily.

I spray undercoated the tents which worked great as I expected to be honest, I have gotten products from Renedra before which meant I had a rough idea of what to expect with how they take paint.
I also sprayed the insides of the tents with open flaps black and I don't plan to paint them beyond that, I hope this makes them just look dark inside.

I will post up again once I have painted them up but I hope they give you an idea

I really recommend these tents as a great way to add a bit more variety on your table top!

Riot Quest Spawn Gates Painted

I got my Spawn gates painted up at last!!
They were a bit of a grind to paint but well worth the effort!

I based mine of 50mm bases for a special project (more to come on that another time...)
Because the bases will cover up the gate number on the arena maps I painted the numbers in a slight glow effect at four points around the base. I like how this ended up looking.

The bronze colour is Orgoth Bronze - a P3 paint. I have to say I have fell in love with this metallic paint it doesn't go all clumpy on my palette like other metallics I've used in the past. I can 100% recommend it!

I painted the metal floor to look rusty and dirty

Here they are laid out on the Thunderhead fortress map. I think having painted 3D gates adds a lot visually to the game

What do you think of my spawn gates?
