Model Review: Aeternae Heavy Myrmidon

Today we take a look at the Aeternae heavy Myrmidon (Warjack to the humans reading this) for Retribution of Scyrah

This model was sent to me to review by Privateer Press.

The kit contains the resin plastic Daemon/Banshee/Sphinx with four resin parts to make it a Aeternae.

The head has an interesting flowing headdress look to it, it is crisp and nicely sculpted.

On the underside there are a couple of resin injection ports which are easy to remove and being on the underside are forgiving if you did carve off a bit too much.

The two hands with the accompanying weapons are attached to a resin sprue. I recommend clipping them slightly further from the part to make sure to not to damage them then carefully trim it down with a hobby knife.

The sculpts for these are fantastic in quality, there is barely any mould lines, there is slight flashing especially on the back edge of the blade but this was removed with a gentle scrap of the knife.

The attachment point for the hand to the wrist is very wide and allows for great poses. There is a resin pipe to the left as you can see in this picture which is to help the resin flow into all the parts of the model. It clipped off quite easily but you need to be careful where it attaches to the hand as its part of a round "gem" like detail so clip a distance away and trim carefully.

There are resin injection ports on the ends of both the shaft of the weapon and the trailing part of the blade, these are both on flat surfaces and thus easy to clean up and no detail is lost.

The shoulder gun is pretty much perfect, the three resin injection ports are again on the flat surfaces and easy to remove.

Here are all the parts in the resin plastic kit. It contains the parts to make a Banshee, Daemon or Sphinx.

The torso is solid, some mould lines to scrap off but nothing too bad.

The arm attachment point is this round dent.

The legs have the injection ports still attached, clip these off and clean up the attachment point and you are all good.

This kit does have mould lines on nearly every part but they scrap off with a hobby knife quite easily.

The hip part has a ball socket for the torso to attach which gives the possibility of a good range of posing.

The shoulders and the extra shoulder armour which goes onto the Warjack's left side.

The arm parts, which like the hip joint have ball joints allowing for decent posing.

These are the weapons for the other Warjack types. I'm not going to go into detail on them as they aren't really the model I'm reviewing. But I did think it was worth including pictures of them for you to look at for completions sake.

These are the heads for the other Warjack types.

And these are the shoulder guns.

And here it is fully assembled!

And here is the scale shot with Professor Pendrake.
The Aeternae is a lot chunkier once its fully assembled than it felt during the building process. I feel that it really is the sum of its parts. I feel that the head and weapons for this new version of an old chassis fit really well visually and that the head in particular is the best looking. In all honesty I can not tell the other heads apart from one and other, perhaps hard core Ret players can...

And finally I thought I would try something new!
Using money from my generous supporters over at Patreon I purchased a rotating display stand. I like to put the money form supporters back into improving the content I make.
I'm hoping to get better at making these over time, one thing I know I want to save for is a better camera (I currently use my phone).
Please let me know what you think of this addition to my model reviews.
I also plan to make similar videos for painted model articles.
With that in mind I have another question for you - should I go back and make these videos for models I have already painted?

I think this is a really nice addition to the Retribution Warjack line, and a bargain if you are inclined to magnetise the other options. I really like the bold lines, curves and style of this model and can't wait to see how the talented painters among us paint it up!

If you want to pick them up for yourself you can find them here at The Outpost (a UK webstore I'm affiliated with)

If you want to support my content consider taking a look at my Patreon which you can find here. I don't put any content behind a paywall but I do offer rewards to people who support me in ways like getting to vote on what content I work on in the future or outright just picking the next subject of an article.
Even if its just $1 it really helps me out

See you all next time!
