Model Review: Scythe

Today we are looking at Scythe, who is a Gunner in Riot Quest and a Mercenary/Minion solo with Partisan Retribution of Scyrah. Privateer Press sent her to me to review, paint and try out so big thanks to them! They also sent me a second one which I will be giving away to one of you! Details about the giveaway at the end of the post.

The main body part is amazingly detailed, but also feels quite thin due to the way the two main parts attach to one each other.

The face is especially nicely done, really great definition for all the facial features, and the flowing hair and ears are all easy to pick out from each other.

She has what looks like a scarf of feathers or leaves, I think these will be interesting to paint in a bright colour to add a really point of interest to the model.

I will be painting the hair in some sort of bright colour, I like all my elves to have anime bright coloured hair

The right leg, rear armour and quiver attach across the waist of the model with a rectangle plug. This is a decent attachment point and I was glad of this as there isn't much room in this model to pin it she is so thin.

The quiver is nicely detailed and distinct from the armour.

The bow and left forearm is the only part in this model which had noticeable mould lines. This was tricky to clean up as I was worrying about bending or breaking the arrow as its a thin part. Because of this I took my time while filing the mould lines away, so it took slightly longer than normal for me, though I consider it worth it, as we don't often get arrows on archer models.

The bow is different in style from other Nyss bows, it has the groove slots typical of mechanikal weapons (which I will be painting with a glow effect) even the arrow has some! This is a good representation of the advanced tech nature of the Riot Quest timeline.

And here she is fully assembled! It was a bit tricky to get the bow to stay on, as the part was so small I didn't want to risk damaging it by pinning. I will have to make sure to not pick her up via the bow to help keep her from breaking.

I really like how her armour is similar in style to the other Nyss models, I've shown her here with one of my Nyss hunters (slightly converted I know...)

And here is the customary scale shot with Professor Pendrake, she is nicely proportioned being slightly taller than a human as I would expect an elf to be.

What do you think of Scythe? I'm excited to use her in Riot Quest for sure, and its even likely she will see play with either my Mercs or Minions as well!

If you want to pick her up for yourself you can find her here at The Outpost (UK webstore I'm affiliated with)

If you would like to win the copy I'm giving away there are a couple of ways you can enter! Either share the Facebook post on my page about this review and like the page, or Retweet the post on my Twitter and follow me there.
I will draw a winner on Friday the 13th of March at 4pm UK time

If you do both you will of course get two chances to win! Good luck to all of you!
