Custom Gatorman Style Void Archon Painted

I begun this conversion a while back but life has been getting in the way of hobby and stopped me painting it. But Rikers Iron's Monstrous May event pushed me to finish it!

If you haven't checked him out yet give his stream a watch its a great hobby hangout full of awesome people.

Well here it is! My Gatorman style Void archon!

I like to envision the bones swirling about with the candles rotating to stay on the upper surfaces as it glides across the battle field...

I tried to match the official void archons pose as much as possible, and I think I nearly got it spot on! The only thing I couldn't replicate was the tight twist in the "void" bottom half but I did the best I could do with bending and reposing the boneswarm to better match the curve I wanted.

I also removed part of the boneswarm and sculpted and added bone bits to various places to change the shaping slightly.

I then added candles from the Sacral Vault which I think really make the conversion pop. They also add a splash of colour as well which is a nice way to draw the eye though the curve of the model.

Here is my customary "scale" shot with Professor Pendrake, I'm really happy with the sense of size I got out of it.

The head is made from a gator skull with candles from the Sacral Vault with the lower jaw of a Cryx bonejack. The upper rib cage part, wings and arms come from a Reaper miniatures Bone Devil, with some slight cutting and reposing to get them to look how I want.

The dead skin on the wings was the trickiest part for me while painting it. I went through a few different colours and methods to try and make it look appropriately rotten. I'm really happy with how it ended up though

So what do you think of my Gatorman style Void Archon? I'm tempted to make a second one sometime soon, but next time I think I would completely change how it is posed... I have some thoughts but its all early thoughts at the moment.
