Flugwug the Filcher Painted

Flugwug the Filcher is painted! I actually painted this a long time ago but never got around to writing the blog post! 

Flugwug is my favourite Rogue in Riot Quest and as a collector of a Minions army its nice to have him painted for that as well.

I really enjoyed painting the various types of leather and materials making up the stitched-together bag. All the different trinkets were interesting to paint as well.

The yellow frog skin was a pain to paint for sure! But I'm really glad I stuck with it because I love how it turned out! I would not want to paint an entire army yellow though... these frogs were more than enough for me!

And I can finally show my picture of all the Croaks I own fully painted! I am one Croak hunter solo missing from being max FA (but with Warmachine being dead in my area and them not being that good anyway I will never bother buying another) I also don't own the Hermit minicrate sculpt it was out of my hobby budget when it was available sadly.

Underchief Mire Painted

Today I present to you my converted Underchief Mire! 

I used a Croak hunter as the base for this conversion but swapped the arms and also cut and reposed them. I wanted it to look more like he was casting magic or controlling a Warbeast so the palm up hand was nice to be able to add. 

The headdress and bird skull on the right shoulder were fun additions which I really hope give him a sense of character.

I sculpted the military greatcoat he is wearing, I wish I had made more of a visual distinction between the golden detailing down the center of the back of the coat compared to the large stitching to fix a tear across the right side. It was sculpted a very long time ago and I think if I were to do it again I would be able to improve on it.

Croak Hunters Painted

More froggies finished! (well... as you likely know I painted them all at the same time as a batch as I tend to do... but its better to post them all separately for people googling in the future to find what they are looking for.

These guys were pretty fun to paint, and it does only bother me "slightly" that I have two of them instead of the max FA of 3.... but I could honestly never see myself running 3 back when I bought them so it turned out to be a good choice. 

These should have a few extra spears on their backs, but as I got one of them 2nd hand it was missing them, so I didn't glue them on the other one too just to keep them looking the same.

Croak Trappers Painted

More froggies!!! Croak Trappers this time! I did these at the same time as the Raiders I posted up last week, painting as a batch is just how I do things, but I figured I should break down posting them into different articles for easier future viewing. 

When I first saw this unit teased I was very hopeful they would be worthwhile, however they didn't exactly "wow" and thus never became a high priority to paint. I am excited to use them in the IKRPG though!

So many fun little details on this unit, I loved painting the fish on their belts different colours.

I really like the scar across this sculpts eye, I decided to paint its eye white because of this which I think adds a nice touch to the mini.

Croak Raiders Painted

A little while ago I finished painting my Croaks, but real life was all over me so I never got around to posting them online. Well, here they are!

Here are the four different sculpts in the unit.

I really like the dart throwing sculpt, the extra details like the crab necklace were pretty fun to paint.

The gourd throwing froggies are pretty fun.

This is my least favorite sculpt in the unit (its still not terrible though)

The leader model is really cool, even if the mouth is a challenge to paint.

I'm very pleased to finish them up, it took me a long time to paint them all (I also painted up other Croak models which you will see soon enough).

These were sat partially painted for a couple of years I think??

Its always nice to finish up a project like this.

What do you think of my Croaks? 

I feel I was pretty brave to stick to my plan of the yellow colour scheme, it was a pain in the butt to paint! So many layers... but I think its worth it in the end.

Totem Huntress Painted

I am so pleased to add the Totem Huntress to my painted collection.

As one of the earliest minicrate models, and a very desirable one at that I wanted to paint her but missed out on subscribing when she was available.

My good friend Andrew kindly sold her to me for the same cost he paid (even though on the 2nd hand market he could have gotten a lot more for her). So huge thanks to him!

She was a very interesting model to paint. I was a little intimidated due to the limited nature of the model and how cool the sculpt is. But eventually I pushed through and got it done!

It was incredibly hard to photograph this model well enough, I still didn't fully manage it as the blending and shading in the skin doesn't show up as well in the pictures as it does in person.

Its a little hard to see but the pale blue eyes really give her a menacing look.

I painted the Farrow head to match other Farrow I have painted in the past, brown skin with ginger hair. Its a scheme for them that I really like.

I wanted to make the Farrow's head look relatively freshly decapitated so blood for the blood god technical paint was my choice here. It was my first time using it and I have to say I'm pretty happy with how it looks. The puddles of it on the mud look pretty realistic as well.;p

The little raised bumps on her back I painted orange, not sure why but the colour fit well so I went with it.

I'm really happy with this blend from green to yellowish orange.

I really wanted to try something completely different with the colours for her armour and weapon. 

Picking flesh tones for the armour hoping for it to represent a lacquered plate of some kind and a bronze for the spear. I figure being from Zu different materials are available there.

I really wanted to sell that she comes from a completely different environment to the other models I've painted.
