Discworld Death Diorama

I while ago I finished up this mini diorama of Death from the Discworld in the novel Soul Music.
This was a unique project for me because it was the first thing I have made purely as a gift, I made it for my sisters birthday.

This is the artwork I was trying to emulate, using one of the miniatures by Micro art studio.
I had never painted a backdrop for a project before, so it was a new experience which I was both excited and nervous about trying. It might not be as perfect as someone better at painting but I'm happy with how its turned out.

I also was trying painting black cloth with purple as a highlight for the first time. I was really pleased with the end result and enjoyed the process of gradually building it up.

I came across an issue part way through making this, that I was putting so much effort into painting the back of the miniature that potentially would never be seen.
I decided to try and make the mountain top Death is stood on rotate. I tried really hard to find a small turntable and in the end used a small lego one, it's a little wobbly but it does the job.

This whole thing was incredibly difficult to photograph with the amateur equipment I have. I took these pictures before gluing the clear plastic front onto the diorama (which I'm hoping will keep the dust out).

I added some quotes to add a personal touch.

(my sister, like Death has a fondness for cats)

So what do you think of this mini diorama? I really hope my sister likes it as much as I enjoyed making it for her.
I've a few more Discworld dioramas planned for the future so give me a follow if you want to see them!

Model Review: Bounty Expansion

Today we take a look at the Bounty Expansion for Riot Quest.

Included in the set are eight metal tokens that replace the cardboard ones from the core box sets, and a new bounty deck.

The Malfunction token gets changed from a lightning bolt to an engine with a crack through it with smoke billowing out. I think this is a really nice sculpt and will look a lot more dynamic on the table.

The bomb token has a real cartoon look but updated from a fuse cord to a timer, nicely done.

Its a cannon... yeah the turret token will really fit in on the Hull grinder map now!

Mysterious token is mysterious... The wood grain is nicely cast, and there appears to be a gremlin hand breaking out of it!

I can't be the only one to think of this

The target token gives a lot of scope for free hand... I want to try to do a wanted poster on it with my most hated character from Warmahordes on it.
Who would your most hated be?

The trap token isn't as elaborate as the custom death trap PP put out as a mini kit a while back, it is a lot easier to transport and use without worrying it will break though!

This Cortex token is pretty big, in my mind this would likely be the cortex from a colossal. It is very similar in design to the one the winter alt sculpt of Meckanoshredder is holding in its mouth but obviously much bigger.

The Gremlin token has the loot and a cheeky pose, these critters always have character every time they appear as a sculpt.

Here they are for scale with Professor Pendrake.

I think these are a really nice upgrade for a Riot Quest diehard who wants to remove the last remnants of cardboard tokens from their game. I do think they are very overpriced however, luckily only one set is needed per gaming group as one set will cover a 4 player game.
Fans of the game will also appreciate another bounty deck changing up the gameplay as well.
