YakTribe Competition 4: Model built!

Due to moving house and other real life issues I didn't manage to enter the third competition...

Competition 4's goal is to model a figure based on one of the forum users names.
I picked Gorkamunda and I have now finished making the model.

I had already planed on making an Ork gang for Necromunda for a long time so I figured this would be a good opportunity to get some progress made!

Gorkamunda is one of the forums main guys when it comes to Gorka Morka and spent a lot of time working on the "Orks in the hive" rules so I figured a Ork model in Necromunda would be very fitting.


I modeled him as the Ork gangs Runtherd, keeping watch over all his "charges" and keeping the forums in line...

He even has his own reloading grot to keep his gun fully loaded at all times

Ork Looted wagon with Skorcha

My Burna Boyz needed a ride, so I figured I would gather my Meks and get something sorted.

Starting with a Rhino (Duh) and chucked a bunch of bits on it

I like my looted vehicles to have a kind of story of how they where wrecked, in this case the orks ripped open the troop section. 

I also have a person rule that I only loot vehicles that I have actually destroyed in a game. So yeah I can mainly loot Imperial stuff based on who I get to play normally.

Necromunda boards and a 40k battle

I got a new phone and when I did I dumped all the content from my old phone onto my laptop. Looking through it I figured I would share some of the pictures I have taken but not got anything written for.
So here are some pictures for your viewing

An example of a Necromunda game, I believe this may have been a multi player game, not too sure now...

These pictures are from a game I had with a guy from my local gaming club, the game got called short which was a shame. We will have a rematch at some point and I will do a proper batrep.

This was a game I played against my friend Simon, this game was horrible 6 monstrous creatures 5 of which where toughness 7-9 for the whole game! There was nothing I could do about them!

There was one good thing about this game though, the unit of grots I had guarding the home objective shot and grounded a flying hive tyrant twice! And allowed other units to wear it down. 

When I came to multi charge it with a unit of boyz,  2 deffkopters I figured hey why not chuck the grots in too? The runtherds grabber stick will reduce its attacks by one.

The hive tyrant was at one wound I should add. I then figured Lets see if the runtherd can do anything!

Rolled to hit - I hit

Rolled to wound - I got a 6!

He rolled his save - failed

He rolled feel no pain - failed!

The runtherd killed a flying hive tyrant!!!

I will now remodel this guy to have a HT head on him in some way!

Quick painting update Ork Boyz

As the title says, just thought I would post a WIP of the unit of 30 Shoota Boyz I'm working on.

The unit has three Big Shootas and a Nob with Power Klaw included

These are not finished yet but they are at least tournament legal.  Progress has been made!

A update on everything!

With real life getting in the way a little this week not so much progress has been made on the painting of my Ork army.

What I did manage to do is glue sand and random bits to the bases of:
60 Ork boyz
15 Kommandos & Snikrot
3 Killa kans
Warboss

When I have a fully painted unit I will post it.

I also have a game against a guy from my local gaming club The giants Lair

He got in contact with me because of this blog which was nice, and on Saturday we will have a 2.5K game.
I will post a battle report for it afterwards.

On the Necromunda side of things the campaign was had its 2nd week now and it's going well!

Two pitslave gangs who are the property of their masters are being forced to fight each other in the arena, that is until they escape!! When that happens the underhive will be turned on its head no doubt with two rampaging pitslave gangs out for vengeance!!

Also with Necromunda flowing though my veins and the last chancers I was given...

Well my thoughts have turned to making another gang.  Not for the current campaign but just a project or for a future one.  So I picked up this today.

So with this and some of the last chancers I think look best for the gang I will make myself another gang which can be of any house really.

I will of course post pictures as and when I finish any of them.

Orks Orks Orks!!!

I have decided on a way to get my Ork army painted.

I have written up a roughly 1000 point list and will paint it in units.

So here is what I have planned:

Warboss with Big choppa, attack squig and Kombi Skorcha

30 boyz with shootas, 3 big shootas, Nob with Power Klaw and boss pole

30 boyz with sluggas and choppas, 3 big shootas, Nob with Power Klaw and boss pole

15 Kommandos with 2 burnas, Nob with  Power Klaw and boss pole and Snikrot

3 Killa kans with Rokkits

I will then see how I go from there and up the points.

Which should I paint first???  Will post them as I finish them

Necromunda Nasher/Ork Attack Squig : Finished!!!

Well!  I put the model together and.... painted it!!!

Here it is unpainted for comparison

My friend and I went to our local gaming club and just sat and hung out painting.

And here is the result!

It's hard to see with my poor camera but the black is a glossy.
It's odd but when I got back into the hobby I got the starter paint set from GW, I sat and painted it onto my orks boots and it looked glossy when it dried!  It looked like my ork was wearing wellie boots!!
Turns out it was a bad batch, but I kept it.  It comes in handy sometimes!

Also the red isn't as in your face in person.

I also got given these

My friend sorted me out with Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers!  I need to sort him out at some point for these gems...  they will make great Necromunda gangers!  I just need to strip the paint.

Next up Attack pet Cretin or Ork Looted wagon with Skorcha???  Which would you rather see?

Necromunda Nasher/Ork Attack Squig

Ok I was interested in modeling a Necromunda attack pet Nasher.  The rules for these are on Anthony Case's website.

It will also double as an attack squig for my Orks should I want to use it.

I plan to use this, its the attack squig arm for an Ork warboss I ended up not using

I need to remove the arm and mount it on a base that is decorative enough too, when I get round to painting it I want to give it a look that combines these two...

Well I will post pics of it when I finish it!
