Talon Light Warjack Painted (Conversion)

My converted Talon is finished! I can't remember when I actually built this conversion, it was years ago most likely. My recent push to finish old projects has finally seen it get finished!
It's based off of a Cygnar Lancer as I find the official metal Talon's to be a bit small.

I carved the Cygnus off of the shield and added the wheel hub from an old 40k ork buggy.

I used one of the smoke stacks from the Ironclad I converted into a Toro (I posted it here if you want to take a look) I really like how this gives it a unique look to fit in with my pirate Warjacks.

I swapped out the tip of the spear for the shock prod from a ork runtherd. I think this also adds to the pirate aesthetic.

I sculpted the lower part of the head with green stuff and poked holes into it to make it look like the official talon sculpts head. I heavily weathered it to look like verdigris.
What do you think of my Talon conversion? I'm pretty happy with it overall.

And finally I thought I would try something new!
Using money from my generous supporters over at Patreon I purchased a rotating display stand. I like to put the money from supporters back into improving the content I make.
I'm hoping to get better at making these over time, one thing I know I want to save for is a better camera (I currently use my phone).
Please let me know what you think of this addition to my painted model articles.
If you like it please like, comment and subscribe on Youtube it really does help with letting youtube know its a video worth suggesting to other hobbyists. (And it upsets Mike...)

Containment Operatives: Model Review

Today we take a look at the Containment Operatives who are a Crucible Guard unit for Warmachine and Hordes.
They come in 6 metal parts

The leader model with its fist up pose. Are they telling the squad to hold position or fire?

The attachment point for the gun arm is under the shoulder armour. It is a good attachment but I would recommend pinning it if you have the tools and the skill. If you can't its not the end of the world as the connection is solid enough.

Their chemical throwing weapons are amazingly detailed with really crisp sculpted parts.

The grunt models are posed holding their weapons in both hands and thus have a dual attachment point which makes for a really secure attachment. You would only need to pin this if you are very rough with your minis.

And here they are fully assembled.

And a scale shot with Professor Pendrake.
These are some really nicely sculpted models which fit nicely within their faction and visually share elements with the other models in the army which I think is a great way to have a cohesive visual theme. There were hardly any mould lines so clean up was fast and easy.

I also plan to make similar videos for painted model articles.
With that in mind I have another question for you - should I go back and make these videos for models I have already painted?

2 Freebooter Heavy Warjacks Painted

Two more Freebooters painted for my pirate army! These are from the Iron Kingdoms board game: The Undercity. I rebased them onto 50mm bases as the ones the board game minis come on are slightly too small. They came in red and blue coloured plastic which is relevant in the board game, this influenced me to paint them to match those colours so when I use them in the board game its easy to see which is the red and which is the blue!

I really like the sculpts of the pirate Warjacks, they have a load of character. Painting them in bold primary colours was fun as well as I typically paint in more subdued colours. I did still use a lot of weathering to help it match the tone of my other models though.

I'm glad to add these to my painted collection. One day I will have the whole Undercity board game finished! (I'm in no rush)
I've plenty more to paint and will continue to post them in the days to come.

Rocketman Stinger: Model Review

Today we take a look at the Rocketman Stinger who is a Crucible Guard solo for Warmachine and Hordes.
It comes in 5 metal parts, and also includes a clear plastic flight stand.

The body is finely detailed with a jump suit which visually fits in with the other Rocketmen in the faction.

The attachment point for the rocket pack is large a has a deep hole, however I did find the fit somewhat loose so I would suggest adding some greenstuff to secure the backpack.

The circle part on the lower back is the attachment point for the flight stand.

The arms can be connected with a variety of angles although if you look closely there are pipes/hoses which connect between the arms and the body only at one angle.

The head is really nicely sculpted with a really interesting gas mask.

The arms have their injection based weapons on each wrist. They are nicely cast with minimal mould lines. I did find it a little hard getting the arms to stay on with their slight bumps which slot into the torso. I would advise pinning these if you have the skill. There isn't much room in the shoulder of each arm though so could be tricky for some.

The rocket pack is nicely sculpted though it did have some mould lines across the back. These took about a minute to remove with a hobby file.

And here it is full assembled.

And the scale shot with Professor Pendrake.
I found this model to be really nicely sculpted with minimal mould lines. I think it fits in with the faction and the game in general really nicely. The only thing I don't like is the flight stand, but that's because I am not fond of the clear plastic as they are slightly immersion breaking for me. Though I totally understand them being the default way to make a model "fly" as scenic based flight stands don't always end up matching with everyone's army basing style.
