Silverline Stormguard Painted

I actually painted these in November but what with getting married the week before Christmas and all meant that I never got around to posting them

So here they are my Silverline Stormguard
What do you think of my colour scheme for them?

Leader model and a grunt

Comparison with a regular Stormguard grunt. Full unit of them can be found here

These guys are great in a Nemo loads of electric list, the +2 damage buff really cranks up the power!

Big thank you to Swabs for ordering the upgrade pack for me back when The Giants Lair was a thing in Plymouth.

Current list pairing using ADR

So with Smogcon just around the corner I figured I would fix in my two lists for the Master's event.

Since it is a Master's event, and the new ADR casters include eCaine (who has been my favourite caster forever), it made sense to look at using the ADR

Here are the two lists I have put together:

List 1

eCaine +5 *
Squire 2
Ace 7 *
Reinholdt 1
Journeyman warcaster 3
Rhupert 2 *
eEiryss 3 *
pAlexia 5
Gunmages+UA 8
Rangers 5
Aiyana & Holt 4 *
Boomhowlers 9 *
Sword knights 6

Specialists
Sentinel 4 *
Lanyssa 2
Stormsmiths x2 *
Madelyn 2
Pendrake 2
Forge guard 8 *

Objective: Bunker

My old eCaine list included most of the solos that are now in the specialists instead of the sword knights. In certain match ups they were less useful, a problem that is solved using an ADR pairing.
Fighting hordes? In goes Pendrake! Against loads of shooting? Sentinel's got your back!

List 2

eStryker +6 *
Squire 2
Ol' Rowdy 9
Runewood 3
Journeyman warcaster 3
Ragman 2 *
Strangewayes 2 *
Stormblade captain 2 *
Sword knights +UA 8
Stormclad 10 *
Stormblades+UA+3WAs 11
Black 13th 4 *

Specialists
Lancer 6
Stormsmiths x3 *
pEiryss 3 *
Gorman 2
Sword knights 6

Objective: Fuel

Hopefully two assassination focused warcasters will keep people guessing.

I would like to play fully painted for the masters event if possible (anything with a * needs painting), but it's quite a lot to get done between now and February

So small disclaimer... I'm an average player, I'm going into a huge event with that in mind. If I finish in the top 64 of the 128 in Friday's masters event I will be very happy. I will be trying to batrep this event if possible.

On the subject of batreps I started a YouTube channel earlier in the year. I started well, posting batreps quite often, but I haven't posted a video since June... yeah, my bad.

I want to batrep my practices building up to Smogcon and as many of my games during the event as I can.

My YouTube channel can be found here

For the rest of the weekend I will be trying to get as many casual games as possible in the Iron arena.
If during these I can get a game with every Warcaster in Cygnar that would be cool.

So I have a request: if you have a list you would like to see played for a certain caster then let me know! Either request a general idea for a list or send me a complete list and I will try to play it and batrep it. A list of all the models I own can be found here. (Sorry no double Stormwall)

Feel free to either leave a comment on this post or email me with your list requests and suggestions at thomasgbell84@gmail.com

Journeyman week 1

Week one of the Journeyman League is over!

I managed to get my 15 point list completely painted

I'm using pNemo as my caster for the league (at least until we reach 35 points and you can have two lists)

He was quite fun to paint. I wanted a colour scheme for him that matched the rest of my army but also linked him to the Stormsmiths I will be painting soon.

Dynamo was intimidating... so much detail on this model it was hard to know where to start.

I didn't notice until writing this that the paint on his head has chipped a little... I will have to fix that later.

So many lightening coils!

Finally painted my Lancer! This is the second model from my original battlebox that I have now painted, just pStryker and the Charger left.

The Tactical Arcanist Crops where a pain for me to paint, I had no clue what colour to paint their armour. Lucky for me the guys at my local club suggested some ideas for me. After that they painted up really quickly.

To round out the list I painted the Gobber Tinker I converted a couple of weeks ago. He was fun to paint up, I made the spare parts in his cart look a little rusty and second hand with a few washes.
I like the way his gloves look rubbery

On to the games!

Game one was against Mercs, His list was :
Ashlynn
Gallant
Harlan Versh
Gunmages
Steelhead halberdiers (min unit)

At the start of the game I managed to kill all the Steelheads before they reached my army using the Chain lightening spell. Gallant was locked in place with Voltaic Snare and Dynamo shot it up so it didn't get anything done either.
Then Ashlynn charged and killed Dynamo and the gunmages kill the Tactical Arcanist Corps.
Nemo lacked the ability to do much to her with Quicken upkept on herself Nemo needed 12's to hit her with any spells...
She finished him off after I failed to kill her.

Game two was against Menoth. His list was
Harbinger
Dervish
Hierophant
Bastions (Max)
Errants (Min)

This was a really hard match, I managed to wreck his jack easy enough and reduced the Bastions to 2 left out of 5 (each on its last health) but martyrdom kept them in the game for a long time.
I didn't even touch the Errants, in the end Harbinger moved up and cast Cataclysm at Nemo, who died quite easily to the auto hitting spell...

I hope to try and get more games in next week if I can, We have one more week at 15 points before moving to 25. (Each increment in points lasts for 2 weeks to give players more of a chance to keep up with the painting)

Journeymen League

There is going to be a modified journeyman league at my local club.

Official leagues give out painting points for anything painted during the league, regardless of whether it gets used or not.
This version, however, also encourages players to play and paint their army they intend to use rather than just spamming for points. It gives bonus points to players that use fully painted lists that they painted during the league.

It also doesn't restrict players to keeping models in their list for the whole league. One of the things a lot of players don't tend to like, or struggle with, is keeping the battle-group for the whole league.

It starts at 15 points with no restriction on having to have a battle-group of a certain size, which is great for Warmachine players!

The league also slowly introduces scenarios week by week, and later there is an option for a second list.

The best part in my mind is that nothing is mandatory, nothing is forcing players to use two lists if they don't want to or if they don't own a second caster.

So I now own all the Warcasters in Cygnar. I wanted to use one that was not only unpainted but that I could write a list all the way up to 50 points made up of unpainted stuff.

This puts anything I have already painted off limits for this list.
First thought was no Squire... yeah so I wanted to pick a caster that likes to take Sylys more than a Squire (also a great push for me to get Sylys painted - I'm not a huge fan of the model)
My first thought was pNemo. He's fun to use but not a power caster that will ruin a newer player's time.

So with all that in mind I wrote this 15 point list

pNemo
Dynamo
Lancer
Tactical Arcanist Corps
Gobber Tinker

The Gobber is less than ideal at this low points level, but I really wanted to paint up the model I converted the other week.

I'm hoping to keep up with the painting, as I have 2 weeks to paint the whole 15 point list - at the same time as trying to write my wedding vows!

I will post about games and painting as the weeks go on. Wish me luck.

Necromunda Market Stalls 3

Its been a long time since I last worked on my Necromunda terrain!
The market stalls I made over a year ago need finishing so I got working on them.

I cut out shapes for the canopies out of thin plasticard (from santa stop here signs, I picked them up in January for pennies)

Then I watered down some PVA glue and soaked some gauze, which I then placed over the plasticard.

This turned out to be a mistake, the glue kept dipping out of the gauze for the next hour or so.
For all the stalls after this one I soaked the gauze and hung it over the pot of glue for a while before putting them on the stalls.

I left them all for a day to dry.

Once they had dried I removed the canopies and painted them using spray paints.

Now I need to paint up the details within the stalls themselves

Heresy Miniatures Kickstarter models arrived!

About a year ago I backed Heresy Miniatures kickstarter, since then they slayed the Dragon that had caused the owner so much grief. If you have the time check out the blog post Andy wrote after casting the last dragon. Really puts it into perspective how much time and effort go into running a miniature making company.

This turned up in the post this morning! I really wasn't expecting to get these models yet and it was a real treat. I had a "no rush" attitude to the kickstarter. The models were great to get but I was happy to be a part of turning around the dragon saga (even if only in a small way)

The terror grub, this guy will be used as a large style bad guy in both Necromunda and Iron kingdoms games, The mouth part is the internal teeth there is a outer set that will be attached so I will paint this part first before gluing that on and painting the rest of the model.

The outer mouth part!

These little guys are called Hellmites, They are a great addition to my collection of monsters. Apparently the old metal versions of these had separate legs, well I'm glad the new resin ones don't!

Lovely detail on these guys

This lot will be my Millasaurs in Necromunda games, a great stand in. The official old GW models are nice but trying to find them on ebay at a not insane price is impossible.

Really impressed with this giant spider. It looks like it will be tricky to assemble (will be pinning it for certain) but should look ace once its done and stalking gangers across the underhive!

A group shot with my Ratskin scout for scale

Once I have given them all a wash to get rid of any mold release agent that might be hanging around I can get to painting them up!

Its come at a great time as I now have mdf sheets for making my own board... terrain making and fingers crossed playing Necromunda await!

Converted Gobber Tinker

A while ago I picked up a second unit of Field Mechaniks to use in eHaley's tier list.

I was thinking about them and decided that I was unlikely to ever run two full units, so I figured I would be able to spare a gobber grunt for this conversion.

I ordered a hand cart from War bases and it arrived today so I got started!

All the pieces popped out of the wooden "sprue" easily

It was nice and easy to assemble, although it doesn't come with instructions the parts are laid out on the sprue in a way that they show where they all fit.

Grabbed some random bits of Jack parts and other things from my bits box

And here is the finished result!

I was going to put a 'jacks boiler strapped to the back of the cart, but it was making it tip over. I attached a set of pouches instead, presumably for tools and such.

I made a belt of green stuff to attach the pistol to the cart, I wanted to make sure the model was armed with the appropriate weaponry that it has on the card.

Contents of the gobber cart include the right arm from an old metal Centurion, the head of an Ironclad (from the model I used to make Gallant) and some sheet metal.

Over all I am really happy with the conversion and think it resembles the original model enough to not cause problems in-game.

This is the official model. I'm not a great fan of it, and it is rather expensive for a one point model...

What do you guys think of the conversion? Would you be happy to play against it?
It should meet more than 50% Privateer Press model parts and be usable in a tournament.

The cart can be found on War Bases site here
