Croak Raiders and Kwaak Slickspine & Gub Painted

Froggies are done!!!
Oh boy this lot was a tough challenge to paint! Not only did I pick yellow which I found to be a hard colour to paint, but all the rope details on them are incredibly fiddly.
I got the colour scheme from No Quarter Prime issue 3 which featured painting schemes for a few of the minions races. I really like this part of the magazine, I was originally thinking of using black as the secondary colour on them but on the one I painted first as a test I really wasn't happy with out it turned out so the No Quarter version was very welcome.

The conjoined twin frogs where good fun to paint a nice little change from the rest of the frogs from the unit.

Tiny lobster and fish on his belt! Important to keep snacks on you during a battle...

There is quite a decent variety in the different poses of these croaks, each having different decorations about themselves or holding different weapons.

This was the first time for me painting fire on a miniature, I have painted the glow of a Warjacks boiler but never flames. This was a nice new technique to try out and I'm happy with how it turned out.

So what do you think of my Croaks?
I'm pleased to have them finished they are the minions models I was most apprehensive about painting.

  1. Hey! These models look awesome! I'm not sure if it's just the pictures, but one suggestion would be not to leave the bottles/spears black- maybe paint them a dark gray or something contrasty. Black draws the eye away from everything else, so the bottles just being black takes a bit away. Other than that they look great, I like your color choice!

    1. Thanks!
The bottles they are holding are dark green, its an old GW paint called Orkhide shade. So I'm guessing its my less than professional photography...
The spear tips are painted glossy black to look like obsidian which is intentional.
