Stormblades painted

Continuing the painting of my Stormknights!

Stormblades are done, eagle eyed Cygnar players will notice that I have metal and plastic models mixed in together. This is because I bought a plastic unit from a guy at my old local club and when I got them home and went to put them together they where missing all the bucklers and a couple of guys where missing arms... after much asking I never got the missing pieces from him so they all went in a box for later.

Nearly a year later I have since picked up two units of the older metal Stormblades both with UA's

I made molds of the bucklers and helmets so I could do head swaps on the leader models. (I really didn't like the open helms)  Post about how I did this can be found here

Stormblade UA

Left to right: Leader (with replaced helm), WA gunner, plastic grunt, metal grunt.

They come together quite quickly with some batreps to watch while I paint.

So Stormknight wise I have a unit of Silverline stormguard and two Stormblade Captains left to paint.
Going to take a break and paint some warjacks before I get to them though.

What are your thoughts on these guys? Did I match my colour scheme ok? Compared to the Stormguard I painted last year. Pictures can be found here

Storm Lances and Laddermore Painted

Got some more painted today!
Finished off my Storm Lances and Laddermore

They are not the greatest paint job I have ever done but I have switched to painting slightly quicker to make more headway through my army

Laddermore, she might not see the table as much as the unit but I figured its best to paint her at the same time

What do you think of my colour scheme applied to Lances? 

I'm looking forward to reviving these a lot with Haley 3 once shes out!

So glad I kept on task and finished this! There where quite a few times I wanted to paint something else but I managed to keep to it.

I want to thank the many good people out there making Warmahordes content on youtube for giving me "painting fuel" to watch while I painted this army.

This is the army as it is in the list I'm running. The unit of Sword knights on the right and Harlan Versh where already painted before I started this challenge

Left to right

Harlan Versh, Journeyman warcaster, Constance Blaize & Alain Runewood

Constance Blaize, boy was she hard to paint! She's not the best paint job I have ever done but... meh

Runewood, very detailed model nice and fun to paint. I lost the plume from his helmet so I had to make one out of green stuff. Quite pleased with the result

I can't believe its taken me this long to finally paint Jr... one of the most used solos I own. Well he's done now. (I still have 2 more to paint for Sieges tier though...)

Took me a little while to figure out how I wanted to paint Gallant with my Black Cygnar colour scheme in mind. I'm happy with the result

My magnetised Centurion/Avenger/Hammersmith

I only painted up the weapons for the Centurion during this month (i'll paint the rest another time)

Precursor knights, pain in the bum trying not to ruin the white cloth when I did the basing...

Even though the Sword knight UA was not in the army list I painted it at the same time as the rest of the unit, otherwise the paint job might not have been "the same"

So glad to have them all done, its also the first "full army" list I have ever had painted so I'm really pleased.

Morrow for May The Tier

I'm starting off running Blaize in her tier Army of Light, it is quite restrictive in what you can take but is very thematic and a few of the tier benefits are quite nice.

Models allowed in the tier

Non character warjacks and Gallant
Sword Knights, Field Mechaniks and Morrowan units (nice room for future units there)
Journeyman warcasters, Runewood, Morrowan solos (again future solos could fit here)

• The tier 1 benefits are that Precursor units become force allowance unlimited and Harlan Versh gains advance deployment

• For tier 2 you have to include two units of Precursors and gain a free UA for one of the units that doesn't count toward force allowance.

• Tier 3 requires Runewood and gives Sword Knights and Precursors +2 Speed on the first turn..

• And for tier 4 if you take Gallant in Blaize's battlegroup, warjacks without ranged weapons gain advance move.

The benefits mean that first turn your army can move up very fast to get to about the middle of the board turn one.

Going first deploying 7" the units can run 16" making it roughly 23" just short of the center of the board.
The warjacks advance move then can run so Gallant get 22" up the field if needed.

I see this army really wants to go first as running that far up going second is sure to give your opponent the alpha strike on your army.

Limitations of using the tier

No squire, which is one of the main benefits of using Blaize in Cygnar rather than Mercs extra range on her feat could mean a lot more souls.

Very few guns, outside of Warjacks there are only 3 solos with ranged weapons in the list, one of which is normally lurking in the back field so unlikely to get much done. Warjacks with ranged weapons are allowed in the tier (they just don't benefit from advance move)

I will see how it runs tonight and batrep games as best I can. (My second list tonight is a Sloan trencher list to use the league Trencher master gunner)
