Custom Cygnar Objective and Flags

Here are my flags and objective for my Cygnar army

I thought seeing as I have been showcasing my non model based hobby stuff lately I would also share my Cygnar Objective and Flags

The objective I made using Stryker3's flag. There was no way I was happy to have the flag increase the space he would take up in my case. Plus it would be so likely to bend or break. I have seen this happen to so many other players versions of him. So I decided to convert him to be holding a shield instead

So I decided to use it to make an objective. I pinned the flag to a brass rod which was tricky to do with how thin they both are.
Then I added some sandbags and a barrel for added detail, these are from Renedra

My flags are made using the banners that come with Stormclads. There was no way I was adding that much height and therefore space in my case for a flag. So I left them off and green stuffed over the hole.
I added a few details to the base of each one and pinned them onto a brass rod.

Here they are in action against my regular Protectorate of Menoth foe

I like the way they tie together with my army and its really nice to turn up to a tournament and put nice looking flags on the table rather than proxy bases which are easy to forget.
It helps me remember that they are there and pushes me a little more to play for scenario.
What do you think of my flags and objective?

Custom painted AOE templates

I realised that I hadn't shared these on the blog the other day when I showed them to one of the guys at my club

I bought a set of mdf laser cut aoe templates and decided that I wanted to paint them to match various effects in my Cygnar army

(How they looked when I got them)

For the 5" aoe I painted one for Foxhole, Magesight and Electroconduction (the gun from Silverline Stormguard)

Foxhole

Mage sight

Electroconduction

For the 4" aoe I painted an area to represent the rough terrain from Siege'e Rift spell
And also Ryan from the Black 13th Mage storm attack, which is sadly no longer in the game...

Image result for how dare you meme
(PP invalidating my purchases!!!)

Rift

Magestorm (now gets used for the cloud generated by the Fuel Cache objective)

The 3" aoe I painted electrical storms that will work with either Styker2, Sturgis or Jakes2's electrical storm spell or the aoe which remains in play from the reliants gun.

I might need a few more of these if I ever choose to spam Reliants (not too likely at the moment)

What do you think of the painted aoe templates? I think they add a level of detail and make it easier to remind both players of what effect the aoe has.

Caine2 Feat damage tracker: Demonstrating my dice tray adaptation

I was trying to find a dice tray but I found that they were quite expensive, and seeing as I am on a zero pound hobby budget I looked around to find something cheaper.

I came across this dice tray game called Shut the box, it was relatively cheap and the numbered tiles gave me a great idea.

I could use them to track Caine2's feat shots! I have found that sometimes in the heat of the moment I can forget what pow his gun shots are up to and it costs me time on my clock to figure it out.

So I wrote out the pow the gun shot will be on the underside of the tiles so I can flip them up each time he shoots and easily keep track of his feat.

Plus there is that awesome moment on the other players face when you get out the tray and they know the feat is on!

Alexia custom corpse counter

I made and converted a corpse counter, I had planned to make something like this for a long time and finally got round to it.

I got a few of these dial trackers. I have plans to make some different ones to track different effects for my army.

Due to the way it goes together I painted the number wheel before gluing it. I went with the same glowing green effect that I used for Alexia's magic.
The pile of skulls and bones scattered around are from Toad King Castings you can find them here

And here it is finished!

The dial goes all the way up to 20! Not that she often collects that many corpses in one turn. The most I have had is 15.

What do you think of my custom counter?

If you would like me to make one for your army or a counter for a different type of effect in your army send me an email at thomasgbell84@googlemail.com and we can work out a commission.

Loads of Merc models painted

Finished up a load of merc models! In part because my local PG ran a painting competition which gave me the push to paint all these character models which I normally find hard to get started.

To kick things off lets start with Magus. With my dip into Mercs I will only be collecting Pirates and things that involve Cygnar. Magnus fits into the latter being allowed in the theme list Kingmaker based around the Cygnar civil war.

Gastone and his trusty Vanguard

He was a nice easy model to paint really. I have plans to have him running a Galleon within my Cygnar army (I need to paint my Galleon still)

The Vanguard I posed to be kneeling down braced ready to take a charge attack. It took some cutting, pinning and greenstuff work to achieve the pose but I feel it was worth it as I think the stock pose looks like its squatting too much.

Not much to say about this Mangler, it was a easy enough model to paint.

I'm a little late to the party getting Alten Ashley since he went up in cost, but he will still work well in the Ironkingdoms RPG even if I never use him in the tabletop game.

I managed to get hold of the No Quarter magazine exclusive Eiryss sculpt! So pleased to have this, I will be retiring the Eiryss1 model I painted last year now in favour of this one. (I never liked its sculpt)

Kell Bailoch and Orin Midwinter are a strange pair for me, they are the first models I have painted for Warmachine that don't work for Cygnar at all! I picked them up cheap and intend to run them in the Kingmaker theme list. It helps that they are great models to use in the RPG too!

Captain Damiano is the 2nd Merc warcaster I have painted now, he is the main caster I want to try in kingmaker which will make great use of my trenchers!

Continuing the Steelhead models on from Damiano I painted Stannis Brocker, he will also find a place in the kingmaker theme.

Sergeant Nicolas Verendrye is the last of the steelheads in this batch (I have a unit that is due to be painted at some point) He was a nice easy model and a good chance to test the colour scheme for the unit.

Rorsh and Brine are the most fun of this lot to me. Not only just to paint but I have some fun ideas for them in lists.

I decided to give Brine a set of bright red braces! Not sure exactly why but it seems like a fun idea.

I look forward to getting this lot on the table.
I hope you like them, if you have any thoughts or questions drop a comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
